About Wilor...

Middle daughter of Wilor M. and Ossie Bluege, Wilor was born and raised in Washington, DC. The day after her graduation from Woodrow Wilson High School, the family moved to Minnesota, where she attended St. Olaf College, majoring in biology and psychology. She became neither a biologist nor a psychologist, and instead turned her creative energies towards art - specifically the classical ballet. With the inherited athleticism of her father (a major league baseball player), and the musicality and poetic gifts of her mother, Wilor worked her way through the ranks of the corps de ballet to soloist and principal dancer. She began teaching in the late 1960's and choreographing in the 1970's. She has over 30 original works to her credit.

In 1996, she wrote and illustrated "The Golden Bough, a Fairytale Ballet for Children." In 1997, she choreographed the full-length 1½ hour ballet based on that book, designing and constructing sets, props, and costumes. With a cast of over 90 dancers, the ballet became a favorite with dancers and audiences.

Now a master teacher and choreographer, Wilor continues to teach, create, and stage ballets. In addition to her original choreography, she has staged a variety of works from the historical ballet repertoire, chiefly works of Petipa.

She lives with her husband in St. Paul, Minnesota, where, from time to time, some small event right in her own backyard causes her to put pen to paper to write nonsense songs, poems, and stories for children.
