Wilor Bluege, Author and Speaker...
Author and illustrator of children's books:
• "The Golden Bough, a Fairytale Ballet for Children"
• "There's a Rabbit on the Roof!"
Speaking presentations for adults range from dance, to mythology, anthropology, and the natural world, to her father's Major League Baseball career as a third-baseman for the Washington Senators. Titles Include:
- "The Bag Lady Wore Toe Shoes" A lighthearted, informative presentation about ballet training, history and life.
- "Art and the Soul" What role do soul processes play in the creation of art? What role does art play in the working out of soul processes? How is soul mirrored in the art of a culture? Is discipline merely a function of the ego, or is there something more deeply soulful going on in the commitment of the individual to master a craft?
- "The Golden Bough Fairytale Ballet: Metaphor of a Creative Life: A myth empowering girls and women to live creatively and authentically." The author/choreographer shares her very personal journey into the meaning of this delightful fairy tale.
- "Stories in Classical Ballet: Parables in the history of human consciousness and the rise of the feminine." Are “Giselle”, “Swan Lake”, and “Sleeping Beauty” meaningless artifacts whose relevancy has been exhausted? Or, are they windows into human relationship, individual maturation, and the history and growth of human consciousness? What if anything, do they have to say about the powerful forces that are erupting throughout the world as seen in current newspaper headlines? What do they tell us of the development about the creative feminine in our time?
- "Dance, Spirituality, and the Natural World: The function of dance in primal cultures." The ritualizing nature of non-Western cultures and the function of dance in building social cohesiveness, psychological integration and wholeness in those cultures.
- "A Life in Baseball: Ossie Bluege, Gripped by the Game" From the sandlots of Chicago to the major leagues, the 50-year career of a Washington Senators' baseball legend, highlighting the personal qualities that lead to success on and off the field.
